If by portable ionizers you mean the other ionizing sticks and bottles, the difference is technology, quality, and purity of materials used. The Hydrogen Stick uses a patented process that involves far infrared ceramics that improve the hydrogen production between magnesium and water. Other sticks simply use more magnesium and it makes a very metallic tasting water (we've tried most other brands). They also do not last as long and I wouldn't imagine the purity of the ingredients used is very high either, as the cost difference between the high grade we use and the next quality down is quite significant. If you are referring to the little electronic portable ionizers, they have exactly the same issues as the larger countertop versions. They create a water that no longer resembles anything you could find in nature. The artificial pH contributes directly towards deterioration of cardiac tissues, hypertension, unidentified side-pains, and very dangerous interactions with medications.

Having read your article on PH water and being a friend of Hydrogenfriends.com, I would like to know the difference between Hydrogen-rich-water stick and portable ionizers that are sold mostly in China. Thanks for your clarification.
